Borrowing Responsibly
Effective date: November 2, 2026
A payday loan can help when a bill is due before your next paycheck, but only if you can repay the full amount on time. Use this page to think it through before you visit our store in Torrance or send an online request.
What is a payday loan?
In California, a payday loan is called a deferred deposit transaction. At CC California Cash, we offer payday loans up to $255, based on a $300 check. The fee is at most $45, which is 15% of the check. Because the amount you repay on the due date includes the loan and its fee, compare the total cost before you sign.
Payday loans made in our Torrance store are completed with a written agreement and disclosures that you receive before you sign. Read them carefully.
If you send a request online through our application form, it may be reviewed by lenders in a third-party network. We cannot promise approval, and lenders may verify your information and check your credit.
Know the total cost before you sign
These questions help you compare your options. Your exact amount, fee and due date appear in your written agreement, and we will explain them before you sign.
- How much will I repay in total, including the fee?
- On what date is the full amount due?
- Will I have enough money on my next payday to repay everything?
- What happens if I cannot repay on the due date?
California payday loan rules
This summary is general information, not legal advice. The California Deferred Deposit Transaction Law sets these rules for payday loans:
- Payday lenders are licensed and supervised by the California Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI).
- The check may be at most $300, and the fee may be at most 15% of the check ($45).
- The lender may hold the check for up to 31 days.
- A new loan may not be made to pay off an existing payday loan, and rollovers are not allowed.
- If a check is returned unpaid, one returned-check fee of at most $15 may be charged.
- A returned check does not lead to criminal prosecution.
Budgeting checklist
- List your monthly income after taxes.
- List fixed bills: rent, utilities, insurance, phone, transportation.
- Subtract them to see what is left each month.
- Decide how much you can repay in full on your next payday without missing other bills.
- Borrow only the amount you need, up to $255.
- Read the written agreement, including the fee, the total of payments and the due date, before you sign.
- Ask about your due date and how you will repay the full amount before you sign.
